Aged Cheddar Grilled Cheese with Crispy Bacon and Green Apples!
Grilled cheese is a crowd pleasing fan favorite. Not many people can dispute that. There is something comforting about warm gooey cheese sandwiched between two crispy pieces of bread that brings most back to their childhood days. This is my version of a classic grilled cheese stepped up for a more adult palette, inspired by an item on the Gorilla Cheese menu that was sold out when I stopped by.
- Aged white cheddar
- Granny Smith apples
I’ll spare you from the step by step of preparing a grilled cheese as I assume most people know the basics. However, I’ll share with you a few tips that I picked up:
- Mix mayo with the margarine before spreading it on the outside of the bread. It will reduce the smoke when toasting the bread.
- Start on a medium heat to melt the cheese without searing the bread, this helps stick it all together before flipping.
- Make the bacon extra crispy to add texture to the sandwich.
- Save some fresh apple slices to have on the side.
